Sorry I haven't been as prompt as I would have liked to, but I have run into some problems obtaining the parts from Mercury, and still make it cost effective. The emblem consists of two pieces, the first being the old style trunk emblem from a Grand Marquis, (p/n F8MZ-54517A20-AA) the other part is obtained from the wheel center cap. The cost of these two parts including a 25% discount is approx $82.00. It is therefore impractical to sell these for $100. I will be glad to post any info regarding the process of making this item if anyone is still interested. Apparently the dealer made a mistake the first time I bought the parts, as that cost was $61.00.

Please Post

JFB,

Please post how you made the trunk emblem and any part numbers.

Appreciate it.

I remember... Haven't gotten around to it yet... I'm thinking more along the lines of popping them off and painting them body color, both front and back...

Logan,

Could you remove them totally? Or will there be a hole in the trunk lid? I would like to not have them at all. However if a hole was left I guess you would need to have a body shop fill the holes and paint over them.

If you remove them and paint the emblems please post your finding, Pros and Cons.

JFB- Have you given up on the badge? I would look into a replacement for the "waterfall" If you want to make one let me know at what price? I sure you will have a market!
Thanks
Big Dog Jim

F8MZ-54517A20-AA marquis trunk emblem $11.74
3W3Z-1130-AB MM centercap $25.36 at fordparts.com $37.10 for the two way cheaper than JFB dealer discounted prices.
The GM emblem comes with 2 pins each different size -easy for the plant people- you remove/pry the hockeysticks from the outside/base plate clean the leftover goo away, paint the inside black.
Cut the double sided tape away between the godhead and plastic cap clean up, apply new tape, center head in circle and you're in business!

Hmm... I may just have to try that after I get my Christmas money. :D

Ron, you ever think about maybe writing an actual "How to" article?
