My rear window tint being 13 years old needs to be replaced. The shop says there is a 70% chance the rear window defrost will be broken.

Anyone repair the rear window defrost? I remember they used to sell a repair kit.

Any ideas on removing the tint?

Thank you.

A GOOD shop can remove it without damaging the rear defroster. #1 way to remove old tint is with a clothing steamer and taking your time.

I pulled my wife's tint off. Then used goof off and a microfiber to remove the adhesive. 3 plus hrs.

There is a trick but I forget the exact details
Something about covering the window with a garbage bag, and adding ammonia. Then let it sit in the sun for a while

DO THIS!!!!!! Spray ammoniated glass cleaner all over the tint. Using black garbage bags, press them as flatly as possible to the inside of the glass using the glass cleaner to adhere the film therefore trapping the glass cleaner against the tint and creating a layer of plastic against the tint. Park facing that window into direct sunlight. It will boil the glue and allow the tint to be gently peeled off. Follow up with slight rubbing with a green scratchy pad and lots of glass cleaner for lubricant. I just stripped and re tinted mine and this always works.

Sorry to derail the thread but what percentages of tint are you guys using. Don't know much about it. Want to do the same percentage on all windows but the windshield but do not want to get pulled over all the time for it.

Peel the tint off as much as you can. When peeling give when you do it. For glue use soapy water and SOS pad.

I have 20% all the way around except the windshield.
