Replace driver's window motor--not regulator

Is it possible to replace just the motor and not the regulator. The regulator seems to be fine (and is a PITA to replace) but the motor is toast.

I've removing the three large torx screws that hold the motor/regular to the door but how do you detach the motor from the regulator? Does it just pull off or do the four (?) torx under the regulator need to be removed or is it something else?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I am not sure about the motor replacement. I just go ahead and replace the whole regulator assembly with motor. It is just a matter of time before the regulator goes out too. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you soon. good luck!

If you replace just the motor the regulator will crap out on you in short order. Replace the motor AND regulator at the same time.

I get my regulators from http://www.1aauto.com/search?q=regulator&year=2004&model=479 they have "high" quality and "regular" quality parts. I opted to go with the "high" quality ones since there isn't much of a difference in price. I've replaced the R/F but I also got both the front and rear sets, so I'll have them when I need to replace the others when needed.

Your stepping over dollars for dimes......replace both, save yourself aggravation later. It's only an hour job.....tops.

I've seen plenty more regulator failures than motor failures.

I assume you checked it for power?

Thanks for the heads up.......

FYI... the videos on the 1AAUTO site are pretty accurate for the most part. They actually do more work than necessary.
