Special Price for Eibach Springs....

I spoke with a local distributor for the Eibach spring set for our Marauders today. I explained that there may be an interest in our forum to get the set and some may want to grab the kit when at the Trilogy open house on the 28th. Here is the deal. He will sell the kit near his cost of $140 to those that want to pick it up at his store in Roseville, or at the open house. Since I will be driving by the the store on the way to the open house, I would be happy to bring them to you on saturday. There is a catch however, in order to have them in his hands in time for the open house delivery, he may have to get them shipped 3 day freight which will be appx $25-30. Even with shipping, $170 is a great price for the springs. He will need to know how many you would want by monday morning. The order has to be in by noon at the latest. He will not ship them due to how busy the shop is. So to sum it up, you can get the springs for $140 from his store in Roseville, Michigan...or if you want, you can order a set and I will bring them to you if you plan on attending the Trilogy open house on saturday for $170 ($140+$30shipping). Let me know what you think about it......
Any chance anyone can get a good deal for the members here, I know I appreciate it, so I'm trying to give some back.
 
No way to convince him to get them drop ship to us poor soles who live too far away to attend the open house?

I will ask him again, but I got the impression that it would be a lot of effort on his part, its a busy tire shop and I know how busy he gets there. I left it at that due to the fact he was passing the kit on to us at his cost.
 
I would like to take you up on that offer, but it's too far away. Thanks a lot for the offer to help out the members though.
 
I'm with Martyo, I would buy a set if we could figure out a way to UPS them to San Francisco. I don't need fast delivery so we could avoid the extra shipping charges (for Monday).

They are progressive. They start out soft (but probably stiffer than OEM) and get stiffer as they compress. Makes for great handling without giving up a decent ride. They're also 1.4" shorter, so you lower the center of gravity and fill up the fenderwells.

or maybe 1.2" shorter...
 
The handling characteristics of progressive springs really show their worth when you push the car hard.

I would think that this would be a nice combo with Dennis's rear sway bar offering (mine is on its way and I believe that RF will have his installed before the weekend is out, so maybe he will check in with us).

MI, if your guy is interested in making a few $$$, maybe he will check in with us and set up a club offering that includes shipping. Just a thought.....
 
I will get a set at the open house. All I have is Hawaiin money. Do you take that?
 
I like Eibach, but the devil is in the details. I would be a bit cautious about mixing the Eibach's with a bigger rear bar. If you drive on terrible roads (Michigan), there is almost no substitute for wheel travel. Progressive rates are most of the almost. To accomodate it's big tires, the Marauder already has much less travel than the Grand Marquis. The ride is still decent thanks to slightly stiffer springs and good/progressive jounce bumpers. The rear air springs are inherently very progressive and maintain an adequate amount of jounce, no matter how heavily you load the car. I understand the Eibach kit includes 1.2 inch lower rear steel springs. To avoid constantly riding on the jounce bumpers, even progressive springs will need to be much stiffer than the air springs. Stiffer rear springs mean more oversteer. A stiffer rear bar means still more oversteer. Stiffer rear bars makes the steering on these cars more responsive, and the normal handling should be delightful. The problem is terminal oversteer. In an emergency situation, you may swap ends. I would not combine stiffer rear springs and bars without doing some serious max handling tests in a safe environment. None of us wants to hit a brick wall fuel tank first.
 
Its only a two spring set...fronts only. They maintain the rear air ride by lowing the ride height sensor. They tell you where to set the sensor for maximum performance to compliment the new Eibach front springs.

Okay...here's an idea. Why not ask our "MM Guru" in FLA if he would be willing to pick up a set (or I'll send him a set) and ask him to check them out for us? If they are good to go, and he can work the deals that work for him with the supplier re: take orders, drop ship product without warehousing, bla, bla, bla, it could be good for everyone. I like win-win scenarios...

My second thought could be a little messy, but...I'm heading up to the seminar Saturday, if you three, Marty, Ford and SF really want these springs, I'll see what I can do to get them and ship them to you myself, you cover the shipping. Like I said, could be messy, but the price may make it worthwhile...Just an idea (shrug).

I dropped a hint that maybe Dennis might be interested and/or available to help us here. I may give him a call on Monday. I do like your offer to pick up a set for me and may just ask you to do that for me if Dennis does not think he will get involved with this one. The Monday noon cut off for ordering through MI's guy makes this a tight schedule though.

I have a feeling we will speak either which way before then.....

I'm sorry about this "Noon Monday" deadline, but this just became available when the original post was put up here by someone else. I had ordered mine two weeks ago, and it got here Tuesday this last week. I thought if any of the guys were going to the open house then they could get a good price on theirs like I got on mine from the same guy. As it is, to get them in by friday, he may have to have them 3-dayed out. I will ask him Monday if they can be shipped directly to customers. I will be honest, I have no idea on how that works, this originally started out with my intention that anyone in this area of michigan could take him up on his price for the springs. It may not be worth it to pay shipping costs when you could find them locally for the same price without the hassle. Go to Eibach.com and look for the distributor in your zip code. I got lucky in the fact that a buddy, and fellow drag racer, is the manager of one of the distributors listed on the Eibach site. So again, I am sorry for the deadline for the guys going to the Trilogy open house. I'm the kind of guy that likes to try and make a good thing available to others, which is why I love and contribute info and money to this site. I would feel bad to "get mine" and forget fellow owners that may be interested in doing the same thing to their Marauders. If Dennis can become a distributor for Eibach and pass on the kit to everyone for the $140 it cost me, then God bless him......and I will go back to working on my car!
