Two piece steel driveshaft

Waaay overpriced IMO. However, I must admit that I'm not quite sure of what the claimed advantage of a two piece shaft is anyway. That is, if there really is an advantage.
 
The advantage is that the two piece shaft has a much higher critcal speed--shorter cylinders vibrate at a higher frequency. To justify the cost, you must have a crying need to go really really fast.
 
I had a custom Carbon Fiber Driveshaft built for less than 1/2 the price of the SHM 2 piece Driveshaft. NO VIBRATIONS AT ANY SPEED + the CF weighs something like 12 lbs!

PST's drive shaft's look to be more expensive than Dynotech's MMC, they list $790 for a Thunderbird/Lincoln driveshaft, which I presume would be close to the cost for a Marauder. The Mustang and Cobra shafts are less, but then they are shorter, no? The Impala SS shaft is $799. This is, of course, less than $ean Hyland.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you BK-GrandMarquis & Martyo...I had to dig through all my MM stuff to find the info. I had PST (Precision Shaft Technologies) in Clearwater, Fla. build my Carbon Fiber Driveshaft. They build a lot of the "Bad Boy" 5.0 Mustang Driveshafts. I worked with Mark Veldhuis and he had me take a bunch of measurements and provide details on the front 'slip yoke' + the rear mounting arrangement. The shaft will run approximately $800.00. I called Mark and talked to him on Friday...I told him to expect some calls soon from MM owners. My 'prototype' is SWEET...weighs @12 Lbs and works great! You have to measure from the end of your transmission tailhousing (not the seal) to the rear mounting flange on the differential...mine was 60-3/8". The only problem we had in building mine was in getting the correct front 'slip yoke'. The Marauder's front slip yoke DOES NOT have splines for the first 2-3/8". Mark could only find a slip yoke with splines the entire length...so I had a local machine shop machine out the splines to the correct depth. Maybe 'The Dealer' could come to the rescue and procure Marauder specific front slip yokes.

I was just looking at the PST website too. Hmmmmm, guess I gotta get out and start taking some measurements. Joe, did you have to take out the driveshaft to take the measurements or will leaving it installed work?

I left the OEM driveshaft installed AND left the vehicle on the ground*...I did not want to jack up the car and have the rear suspension droop, which could have changed my measurement. The OEM driveshaft has a big round 'collar' at the front which makes it hard to measure to the transmission's tail housing..but you can use a straight edge/ruler to help.
* PITA to get under a MM while its on the ground...but thats when I first noticed the 'soda straw' OEM dual exhaust... Yikes! 2" pipes!! ...I called Kooks shortly after seeing that. My brother's CV has bigger OEM duals.
