use of motor oil when the car is older

oil

What about using non Blended oil? I have always used the Blended, however I am out of the country with the car. Hard to get the blended except at a dealer.

Doesn't matter if your using full synthetic, synthetic blend or straight dino.

I'm running 0w30 Mobile One full synthetic.

I had 256,172 miles on my OEM motor (last 172K Supercharged) when it blew......Mobil I it's entire life and it never used oil!!:D

The block only needed honing for the rebuild....crankshaft only polished!!

These new motors will last indefinitely with routine maintenance as long as oil meets specs set forth!!

BTW, mine blew due to bad gas....we think??

At around 135k miles I switched from Mobil 1 5w20 to 5w30HM, at 235k (I think) now and still going but it does have it's issues as any high mileage motor could have (rings are worn which allows more blow by and some seals are weeping) but I don't ever need to add more than 3/4 of a quart over a 5k mile oil change interval.

Why use blended when full synthetic is about the same price?

What planet are you living on??

It's not the same price.

Motorcraft 5w/20 synthetic blend - $5.89

Mobile 1 5w/20 full synthetic - $9.79

Castrol 5w/20 dino oil - $5.99

Valvoline dino oil - $3.99

Prices (per quart) are from the Autozone webste for the store closest to where I live.

From your same website....
Mobile 1 (full synthetic) 5w20 - $23.88 for 5 quarts = $4.77 / quart
Motorcraft (semi synthetic) 5w/20 - $17.97 for 5 quarts = $3.59 / quart
That's a $1.18 difference.

Yes and a lot cheaper than the "Mobile 1 5w/20 full synthetic - $9.79" and "Motorcraft 5w/20 synthetic blend - $5.89" you posted.

Walmart prices are the best for oil ,I get Pennzoil 5w30 5 quart jug for $25 its $10 more at Advance Auto, the way I look at it our cars are worth it to use the full synthetic oil ,we even pay more at the pump cause our cars use premium gas so we'll might as well use a premium oil my .02.

Hello Is it ok to go away from 5-25 blended when the car is older and approaching 100,000

According to your vehicle’s owner’s manual, your 2003 Mercury Marauder requires a 5W-20 motor oil. Given that you mentioned the vehicle is reaching 100,000 miles, we would recommend moving to a high mileage motor oil. Specifically, we would recommend Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage 5W-20. Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage is the first of its kind full synthetic high mileage motor oil made from natural gas. It is designed to deliver less oil burn off than other high mileage oils, as well as help to reduce leaks and oil consumption. Hope this helps! - The Pennzoil Team

I buy approximately $500.00 of oil from Walmart everyday...I'm here to tell you Walmart is the best for Mobil 1 oil.
Full synthetic comes out to about $4.77 a qt.

Same price for High Mileage Mobil1

High mileage is the same oil except it has a seal sweller added to it.
