Used Mustang

crouse

I know nothing
I've been thinking about buying a used Mustang. 2015 or newer with a V8 and automatic transmission. Sounds like the Getra manual transmissions have had some problems. From what I know, the 2015-2017 have the 6 speed automatic transmission and the 2018 and newer have the 10 speed. Wondering if anyone has any feedback on the 10 speed vs the 6 speed.

I've had 2 Getrag MT82 6 speeds with ZERO problems!!

A 2014 5.0 and now a 2019 5.0........45K miles on the 2014 and so far 23K miles on the 2019 so don't rule out the manuals unless you really want an automatic!!

BTW......LOTSA naysayers on car forums and especially concentrated on Mustang forums!!

Good Luck in your search!!

There is a class action lawsuit against Ford on the Getrag 6 speed manual transmission, so that's why I want an automatic.

There is also a class action lawsuit against ford for one of the automatics they put on the market

The most problematic getrags were the 11-14's specifically on the 11-12 cars, my 16 hasn't had any issues. They're a little quirky but nothing that can't be fixed with some simplistic tweaks

Some people ***** about the clunkiness of the 10spd auto around town, as well as gear hunting.

I promise you as a S550 owner for almost 5 years now these cars aren't perfect.

The early ones had weak shift forks but the 2nd and 3rd generations are very reliable!!

Those who slam gears all the time complain as they break things.......Tremecs have their share too!!:argue::mad2:

Good Luck with your automatic but for me Mustangs just ain't Mustangs without Manual Transmissions!!:(

My getrag 2015 performance pack has had no issues and I beat the snot out of it. I think the problems come from noobs that abuse it and don't know how to drive stick.
