What A\C compressor to replace Stock unit?

I believe my compressor has gone out. It wouldn’t come on today. I had issues before my car was down and I was thinking it was the blend door actuator. I sure wish I knew this while the engine was out. Geesh!!

First you need to check the AC Compressor Relay in the box under the hood!!

Swap it with the horn relay and see what happens......it may just surprise ya as it did me a few years ago!!

Thanks guys. Very helpful info. While I’m happy to have my car back running, it’s the wrong time of the year for my air to not be working. It’s hottt down here

I tried this and the compressor still didn’t turn on. Is there a link here that tells how to test everything? Even if I find it by searching google, for some reason it will not open on my phone

depress a schrader valve and see if freon is in it.
If not, the accumulator probably rotted out, or there is a hole in the condenser.

Did your problem start after the engine swap?

I depressed it yesterday and only hot air came out for the few seconds I did it. I was having some issues with it cooling then not cooling as well from time to time

Ok. I’ve verified that I’m getting power to the relay pin location so I jumpered over to other large pin location and the clutch did engage. So whats next

If the refrigerant is low enough the compressor will not come on.

While I had the compressor running I put the can of Freon on it with the gauge and it was low. I added some Freon until it was in the green. I removed the jumper and replaced the relay and the compressor would not come on again.

Ok guys. I hope someone can answer this question. I’m going to replace the low pressure cycling switch that’s located on the accumulator. I got the new switch and pigtail it requires. Only issue is, the factory switch using a 3 wire connector and the new switch only has two. What’s this about or how should I proceed?

You cant.... Get a trinary switch...

The switch sends AC on info back to the PCM.

The electric fan will not kick into high when the AC is on without one...

Thanks for that piece of information. I don’t know what Ford got going on with this mess. I’ll be returning these things and getting my $70 back. Thanks again
