What did you do to your car today?

Fixed my cruise control. Bad deactivation switch caused it to not work at all. $5.48 for a Motorcraft switch. Took me longer to get the panel off under the dash then change the switch haha

Replaced both rear door lock actuators without drilling out the rivet bracket. Easier than I expected.

So, Monday morning I went to start Big Green ("new" F250) and she was stone cold dead...

Jumped in Pontiac to get to office. Left early to diagnose. Battery puked and the bad one sucked all the juice from #2.

I had entertained replacing the batteries in October when doing all the other work as they were 36m Motorcraft that looked 5+ years old or could even be OEM given it is a southern truck BUT given I had hemorrhaged SOOOOO much $$$ lately I decided to delay.

Went to a big parts chain that I wont name (but initials are AZ) to get 2 new batteries. They offer an AGM unit and since the last Sears store within 100 miles closed, I've gone to them for batts.

Website showed they had in stock but of course - only 1.

The kid brings the one to me and states I may not want it as date code is 2018 (poor manager!!!). I said no thanks, get me 2 new ones and I'll pick them up tomorrow.

So I get there today and there is 1 brand new unit by register waiting for me and the guy "has to go get #2". He walks up with the same 2018 unit I rejected yesterday! No caps on the posts, same charger clamp marks on the posts, no date code sticker (the kid pulled it off when I was originally there) and same finger marks in the dust we made when originally inspecting it. "We sent that one back..."

I didn't get pissed, didn't make a scene (y'all would have been proud of me! :D). I simply stated for what they cost ($200) I would not accept any unit w/o 2020 or newer date code and as no date sticker on it I would not accept.

Picking up a new "new" one tomorrow.

The adventure continues! :)

i've got a 2005 Ford Excursion with the 6.0 diesel (with all the mods to make it last...270K and climbing..) and I have had fabulous experiences with two batteries: Northstar (example) https://www.odysseybattery.com/produ...hstar-battery/

and X2Power. Check this one out!

https://www.batteriesplus.com/produc...sel/sli65agmdp

Both are made by same company. 5 year non prorated warranty? They had me at hello!

Originally I was running XS Power batteries and since i got them from Summit racing, I was able to get replacements for free! But I got tired of the 2 year replacement battery carousel...these have lasted!

Installed battery # 1 yesterday, installed #2 today. Truck snapped right off, 14.9v = all good! I'm back on the road. :D

Had no heat in DTRded yesterday on the way home. Got home and opened the hood no coolant in the bottle. Added 3/4 gallon of coolant to the crossover tube, put cap back on, shut the hood and went inside. Drove to work this morning had heat!!! Fixed it!!!

Did you look to see here the missing coolant disappeared to?

May be worth doing the hoses too. I had one blow out over the summer, planning on doing the remainder when I have time. They're not getting any younger and hoses are way cheaper than an engine or cylinder head.

Mounted my expensive ass spoiler haha

HEAT WAVE!!! 40* and bright sunny today so did some stuff on F250 I've been putting off due to cold. Removed deer damaged mudflap so I can fix it, Checked out drivers heated seat that wasn't working very good (looks like just a restricted filter), cleaned out trash, swept front floor and installed new Weathertech mats.

Meh. 51 and sun here and haven’t even opened the door. Couch trip day and as far as I’m concerned if I’m not getting paid to leave I can easily wait till 70* to embark on springtime duties...!
