What say you all?

Shelby GT X2--Back In Black
Have you purchased (from anyone) a set of the Granatelli coil on plug connectors? If so, how do they perform?

I got a set from the Group Buy, but have yet to install them. They appear to be much better in quality than the stocker (from the pictures in MM2004's How-To).

I will probably not install them until the S/C arrives though :(

PS - Are the stockers not available throught F/L/M?

I've bought them and my car idles smoother. Slight better throttle response off the line as well. I do have the original springs, but like I said in Jason's thread, I didn't take very much care in pulling them out. They're a little stretched.

Everyone knows I have a set per my thread started yesterday:

Jason,

It may be very difficult to locate used OEM connectors that are pristine as I found removing them causes bending of the coils on the connector. I am sure you can straighten them out prior to re-installing them, as they weren't too bent out of shape after removal.

I have to ask this; are you positive that the Granatelli connectors snapped onto the spark plugs completely? I ask this as I found it took quite a bit of pressure to seat them. To the point I was a little uncomfortable when pushing down that firmly. You would have felt/heard the 'snap' in place.

I would rather hold onto my OEM connectors, as I am funny about keeping all of my OEM parts that are replaced with upgrades.

Good luck!

Mike.

I purchased a set during the 1st GB. I really can't say there is any improvement other than piece of mind that there won't be any issues with the OEM crap.

Gtg

I purchased a set from Wes. Installed them that weekend as per directions (no brainer). When I started the car, it idled much smoother, revs better, throttle response is crisper/cleaner. I put new plugs in at the same time, but the set I replaced were all GTG and only had 15K on them. Definitely a good upgrade over the OEM.

I'm gonna have a hard time giving my opinion on these. I will be putting mine on when I install the S/C. I'll be swapping Valve Covers ( Thanks AGAIN, Jim!!) and doing a lot of other things at that time.
I'd imagine that the connectors will result in the smallest increase of power at that time.

I purchased mine before the group buy, from Summit I believe. I was having my powder coated cam covers installed and wanted the connectors changed as the OEM didn't impress me that much when we removed them for the Trilogy install. There was no issue of performance of the OEM's and I noticed no improvement with the Granatelli's and didn't expect any. The price was less than the GB and shipping was free. I don't have worries that there will be a problem when they need to be removed for service work in the future and that was my primary concern. Dennis:D

I didn't notice any performance/efficiency gains.
I will say that the obvious difference in quality gives me piece of mind that the juice is getting to the right place in the maximum dosage.
Rider90, I wish I had saved my old ones for you, as 7 out of 8 were extracted without damage. But I was so disgusted with their wimpiness I pitched em.
I humbly suggest you don't give up on the Granatellis, especially with your power adders.

I haven't put mine on yet. However, I suspect no performance gains. I do, however, suspect that I will not have any problems related to the coil connectors after the upgrade. This is the kind of mod that offers peace of mind and is preventative in nature.

Probably the best summation on this mod.

However, I'm sitting here, reading a lot about these things lately. I've got a question-how many people have actually expirienced a failure or problem from the OEM connectors? Anyone?

No problems with the COP connectors here. They definately helped out a cold low-load hesitation I was experiencing.

The plugs have been in and out of the engine at least 5 times since I've had the car in 40k miles (original Motorcrafts to Densos, Densos pulled for cam cover r&r, Densos back to Motorcraft, Motorcrafts pulled out and checked twice since the s/c install), so I wonder if pulling the coil packs often could loosen the contact area between the OEM springs and the plugs?
