What's Next??? Performance!!!

Well i got the k&n in there just got the the 4:30's and lidio chip and i got flowmaster mufflers 40 series I really dont wanna dump $7000 or $8000 grand in the blower yet.

What do you guys think i should do next i heard the pullys ain't worth it and you lose voltage

i thought the pullies were worth it, but you need to have the chip reflashed to raise idle back up to 650-700

You have the two most bang for the buck mods you can do to a stock Maurader. There is some little niggle stuff that can net you some gains, but for HP that's it when it comes to cheaper mods. Perhaps a better stall converter might help.

Otherwise it'll take some cash to find a worthwhile gain. A good set of Kooks headers and custom 2 1/2 all the way out with an x pipe and some decent mufflers will net you a seat of the pants gain. But you'll spend a few grand there.

If you think you might get a blower later, don't spend anything and start saving for your kit. The sooner you "get there" the better. Everything is just a delay.

If a SC is likely out of the question in reality, than I'd get some exhaust (headers and x pip at least), and a better TC. There are other trinkets you can bolt on along the way too. Just don't expect a seat of the pants change.

Are you going to the dyno day for Marauders only tomorrow? It will be an all day event and you will see at least 20 Different Marauders! I guarantee that you will see everything from a bone stock car all the way up to the Trilogy blower cars. Jerry Barnes will be there with the SEMA car I believe, Lidio's 11.6 sec car, My 12.2 sec car, and the latest Trilogy thrasher, Mikes, with its new Nittos! Not true about the pulleys. Get the Steeda pulleys for a quick and easy, relatively cheap 10 hp. Documented many times by numerous members here. No problems with voltage, but some members have had the idle increased anyway. I and many others did not and still have no battery issues.

Just don't expect any seat of the pants improvement from a "10 hp" mod. Not knocking the pulleys, just being realistic. I admit that every tiny bit helps, but I cannot tell you how many guys have said that they wished they would have saved the money for the more significant upgrades versus tiny stuff like pullies, stat, and plugs. That little stuff is more for making you feel good than making true seat of the pants differences. Unless the car lives on the dyno you'll never know they are there. That's why I prefer the mods you can actually notice That, of course, is only my opinion.

Consider approaching it from another angle; stopping the car better. Brakes always end up at the bottom of the list mod. And afterwards the comment is usually 'I should have done these long before.....'

Just remember; there's more to performance than hp.

I'll second that^^^^!

The great thing us Marauder owners have going for us is the ever growing shopping list of mods that can be done to increase our satisfaction with the car. How you map these out should depend on how you use her and where you would like to see the performance improvement next.

It seems like everytime someone does another one of the popular mods to their car, they exclaim "this is how the car should have come from the factory!"

Just another opinion in a sea of them, but the better you can balance acceleration, handling, and braking performance while you put your list together, the better you'll enjoy your hard earned mod $$$.

BTW, I've experienced "circumstances" where performance handling and brake upgrades have had what I would consider far better returns than chasing after hp alone... not these aren't still on my short list .

I'm not trying to be an ass because I am new here, but you will feel a SOTP feel when you do the pullies. Just ask anyone who has them on CVN and Mustang boards. Considering I just put them on a 03 CVLX HPP and defintly felt a better SOTP feel and pull in the car. IMO, U/D's are the first on the mods list. $155 on ebay new...

No need to ask anyone else...I've been down that road before myself. I've had pullies on a few mustangs over the years, from mild to wild, N/A to blown. So my opinion comes from first hand experience on numerous applications.

Pullies are one of those mods you "think" you can feel after you've had them installed. You feel the difference because you think you should. As far as a seat of the pants feeling, its mostly in the consumers head, just ask any seasoned enthusiast who has gone beyond simple bolt ons. There is no doubt that a good set of pulleys can indeed net you a few ponies. And whether its sensible to go after those few ponies with a pulley mod is all personal choice. But to say someone's ass can feel a 10hp difference is almost absurd. Frankly, you can a feel bigger SOTP difference just from simple ambient temperature differences. No offense meant.....I "thought" my pullies made my first bolt on Mustang feel faster too

I guess it all is in the head, just like after a oil change the car feels more peppy but it is in your head. It later goes away as you drive more. Dont get me wrong I would love to have a AED REV-II kit for my CV or Trilogy kit for my future Marauder but price can be high and I enjoy trying to get there faster NA first. Just my opinion, but you defintly are right and I will agree with you on the above.

Saving your money for the blower/power adder is not the plan. These things include a nice K&N filter, the pullies, stat, and plugs. Each of these items is affordable on their own and contribute to the "bottom line" performance wise. The best of all the simple mods is the chip. Makes a world of difference in drive-ability.

My only point was that if anyone is thinking of a blower in the future, then cut to the chase and get there by skipping the small stuff. That said, running a nice tight NA car with the all the small goodies is damn fun too!

I would definitely recommend the pullies. There are enough people here who have found good results with them that I think it's hard to argue with success. I noticed that I could finally chirp my tires on the 1-2 shift after the pullies. I did not get a chip reflash after the pullies and my car still idles at about the same RPM as before. With the AC on, however, it does idle lower.

Thanks and you weren't sassy at all. My plans for my future Marauder is a S/C but I plan to atleast have the PI TQ converter, Kooks headers/Cats/X pipe/Dynomax mufflers, 4.10:1 rear gears, and U/D's first and of course a chip. U/D's ofcourse would come off when S/C installed and chip can always be reburned, but atleast the car would be decent fast before S/C. Ofcourse plans change but those are a give me to go along with any before S/C install, money usage pending.
