2003 Cobra exhaust manifold versus other DOHC

Yep!

I have a set for sale for $50 shipped right now.

I wouldn't pass these up for $50 shipped!

Yes.....most X-Pipes sound high pitched and zippy...the one I had fabricated sounded like a pair of mad Hondas with "Fart Cans" on 'em!!:mad2::argue::bigcry:

The H-Pipe is more mellow with a lower tone and more of an "Old School" burble!!:bows:
Depends on taste...I have an X pipe with Corsa db blacks that has a raspy growl but cmon man to compare it to a Honda??? lol

I don't think these look any different from the "Cobra" exhaust manifolds that I posted the other day. Other than that flat flange on the passenger side. The new looking one is the "99" Driver side and the rusty one with the air fitting is the stock passenger 96 Mark VIII.

I have some sitting around. I port matched them to the MM heads and hogged them out in areas they saw a bit of restriction. Better than MM stockers, but, as Zack said, you need to get cobra exhaust from the headers down to the end of the H pipe.

I understand the difference from the manifold flange back, my original question was is there any difference in the stock exhaust manifold on the cobra from other DOHC engines. Other than the passenger side being Flanged, I don't see one.

I said yes above, they have better flow than the MM stockers.
Yes to what? :) Yes they are the same or yes they are different?

I dont see any physical difference in the stock cast manifold shape or dimensions of the stock ports in the exhaust manifold. I have not found anything difinitive that gives the dimensions of the port openings, other than one person that gave me 48mm x 25 mm as the stock openings, which matches pretty much what I measured on the ones in the pictures (99 Mustang and 96 Mrk VIII versions).

The only difference is the one flange. I am going with that!

Thanks!

If I **** them down, side by side in a position as they would be installed, you will see an obvious difference in the way they are manufactured for better flow. Maybe not a lot, but, it's there. Is it worth using them because of other exhaust parts needed, probably not. I'll see if I can take a better pic later today.

You may want to look for the Ford Racing Mustang Cobra shorty headers - M-9430-E465 (ceramic coated or -E464 SS version). They are no longer available from FR. I installed these years ago and then used the Magnaflow Cobra X-Pipe (#48026 - w/hiflow CATS) into the stock MM mufflers. Sound was a little louder then stock. Set-up worked good with my MM and SC during my drag racing days.

Great to see Zack back on the forum. He is a huge wealth of MM information and technical help.

So your saying they're the same but different:confused:

:D

I'm saying that the Cobra logs are made to be a little better than the mm logs. Since I can't say ****... Blumpkin!
