loose thing in the back & early tire wear

Based on the recommendations of a lot of the site members I run high in the front (38) and a little low in the back (30) and check them regularly. Not many of us have every tested the true handling limits of our Marauders. One caution on running significantly higher front and/or lower rear...

    My Marauder sucks...

You might have over oiled the K&N. That would screw up the Mass Air Flow sensor.

    Front shock upgrades

The on line parts catalogs I've checked show a shock number change at 12/01/2003. That means early 2004 cars would have the old shocks. The price dropped, so cost reductions were probably involved, but I do like the new valving better.

    Front shock upgrades

There was a change in shock part numbers late in 2003. I've owned both levels. My later ones have distinctly more control.

    32v4.6dohcFailsafe?

When these engines sense overtemp, they start shutting down cylinders intermittently to pump some cool air through. If you keep pushing it long enough, hard enough, especially in hot weather, bad things will still happen.

    Black Wheels

That's a nice wheel Donny, but interpolating from the conversion chart at http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html, I think its offset is more like 28 mm. Ford really didn't use 50 mm offset wheels just to frustrate us. It was done to reduce scrub radius to about 10 mm, which helped to give the...

    Black Wheels

See http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html for a good description of offset/backspacing. All things are relative, but once you get past the physical clearance issues, decreasing offset increases bearing, ball joint, and steering gear loads and makes the car more likely to wander at high...

    Leaher Jacket??

It's a decent jacket. I enjoyed wearing mine last winter. I should reiterate that the salesmen have nothing to do with the jackets. It's not surprising that most of them are unaware of this freebie. Everything happens above their level. Most buyers are surprised when they get the card...

    Two piece steel driveshaft

The advantage is that the two piece shaft has a much higher critcal speed--shorter cylinders vibrate at a higher frequency. To justify the cost, you must have a crying need to go really really fast.

    Black Wheels

Joe, the inside rear clearance is not as generous as it first appears. A lot of that room gets used up when the axle goes into full jounce-roll. One problem with the Ford racing wheel is that at 31 lbs. it seems to be a real porker. Panther platform cars have never liked heavy wheels.

    Match Mounted Tires & Wheels

"Wheel runout was just fine. As of right now, I still have one tire that is way off balance. " Total runout of the mounted tire and wheel combination should not be more than .030 in.. With a little creativity, you can check this in your own garage with very crude tools. Just jack up the car...

    Match Mounted Tires & Wheels

Perhaps we should stamp a small mark on our wheels across from the red dot on the tires---------before the red dot is worn off. That why replacement tires can also be match mounted. This is an excellent idea, assuming your tires and wheels were properly matched originally. If your car was...

    Match Mounted Tires & Wheels

Ford does match mount all tires and wheels. They have monster machines that mount, match, and inflate in an incredibly quick process. That said, the low spot on Ford wheels isn't necessarily always at the valve stem. On two of my wheels, the correct point was almost opposite the stems. Your...

Another upgrade you might consider...ADDCO FRONT SWAYBARS NOW AVAILABLE!!!

Parts like those shown wouldn't work with the 2003/2004 suspension. The new front end is designed for ball joint links which attach directly to the knuckles. This trick allows a one inch bar to be as effective as a much larger bar connected conventionally to the lower arms with bushings. The...

How do I get this oil filter off?

There is nothing like having the right tool for the job. For a couple of bucks you should be able to get the right size socket tool at your local auto parts store. With that and a short, flex handle 3/8 inch ratchet you can easily loosen or tighten the filter from above.

    Top End Limiter

Most production Marauder driveshafts will stand considerably more than 120 mph. Because of small variances (and not just balance) from driveshaft to driveshaft, however, some few will have a problem at 120.9999 mph. The onset of resonance can occur with little warning. If you bypass the...

    Happy Marauder Owners?

MitchB, 2004 tire pressures were bumped to 35/35 psi, strictly for CAFE/gas guzzler tax reasons.
