Buying Gas in Virginia? Watch the numbers.

Whether you are just passing through Virginia or live in the area, watch the numbers at the gas stations.

The Governor of Virginia approved a waiver for some 840 retailers to price their gas per HALF GALLON. Seems that many of the older analog display pumps can't display prices above $3.99 per gallon. The temporary waiver lasts until 30 September.

So, if you think you just found "half price" gas in good 'ole VA. Think again.

I suspect the oil companies are already considering pricing gas "by the liter" so the prices don't look so high and "in your face". Our $4.259 gas would go to $1.12 overnight and it would take months for the average American to figure out what happened. ;)

Didnt they try that in the 70's???

Yes, I was too young to drive then, but I distinctly remember when gas for the first time went to over $1.00 a gallon the old analog pumps could not go higher than 99.9 cents a gallon so my Dad pulls into (I think it was a Hess station) and they set the pump to 0.50 cents a gallon and doubled the price.

So if you wanted 7 gallons, they stopped it at $3.50.
I also remember odd and even number days at the pump depending on what digit your license plate ended with.

Yikes, let's not do that I'm driving now.

When your car has been on jack stands for 2 months gas priced don't matter. That will change in the next couple of weeks and I am not looking forward to high gas prices. I wonder if race gas prices are over 10 dollars.

There was a article on local TV about area short track racers cutting back the number of cars run/tracks per week they attend due to price of race fuel being $8 a gallon. That was two weeks ago, so it may be $10 now. As a side note, we have not been to a race this year due to fuel prices.

Our local novelty 100 octane race gas pump is now at $10 a gal. Used to be when it was $5.50 a gal all the ricers would top up there regularly. I imagine that gas may be getting pretty old that price.

The last time I bought C-16 it was $13.00/gallon. And that was in March.
