Has anyone upgraded their H1 fog light bulbs?

Marauder

Such as Silver Star H1s? What about an H1 HID upgrade kit?

I'm putting my Vic's Silver Stars in the Marauder headlights and maybe getting brighter H1 for the foggies.

Just curious to see what others have done.

Thanks...
Danny

I upgraded my fogs with the Silverstars and they made a noticable diffrence over stock. They are brighter and whiter.

Todd (TAF) did it with the Silverstars and tells me he loves it. So, of course I had to order the Silverstars too and they are on their way to me. I also ordered the Silverstar turn signal bulbs. I will let you know what I think when I get 'em all installed.

H1 upgrade

I have 100 watt H1 bulbs in mine. Also, I removed the bulb-shade for a stronger center throw. Lotsa light on the road now.

Yes...and for $30...this is a "must-do mod". BIG difference over the OEM fogs.

I installed the Silver Stars headlights and the turn signals...they work and look great.
Now I have to do the foggies.

Ooooo... turn signals. Nice.

As an aside, has anyone done any work on the turning lamps? Brighter would be fine but aiming them a little more forward so that it adds to the headlight beam would be nice.

Right now I have the light from the headlight, a dark patch, then the light from the turning lamp. Just wondering if they could be a little more forward so I could see into the corner a little bit better before turning.

I went with Zenon 80/100 watt headlamps, Zenon 100w foglamps, and removed the diffusers. I am using APC titanium bulbs in the marker lights, the factory orange looking bulbs look so queer.

I still haven't done the side/turn signal white lamp yet, but they will also be zenons.

I put in Silverstar 9007 headlights, Silverstar H1 fogs, and Silverstar 3157 turn signal/markers. The 3157s have a bluish purple color whtn they're off but are orange when they're on. I also put in Xenon 3156 cornering lamps. They are the blue color bulbs and the light is bluish in color. Didn't see any way to adjust the angle of light coming out of them. A note, I also tried the 50W halogen 3156 bulbs and they were brighter than the OEM bulbs but they still put out a yellowish colored light when compared to the Silverstars. So I put them in the backup lights.

A bit tough to get the head lights out without scratching the bumper but I did it. I did remove the corner lights to have more space to work with.

I'm going to order the Silver Star H1s and maybe do them next weekend.

If you thought the headlights were a pain, wait till you do the left hand fog. Of course I did mine in the driveway, in the rain. Couldn't wait, had to do it right when they got here...I got one in before the rain started. Even dry the left one would be a pain.

SilverStars...

I was able to install my bulbs without removing the headlights. I first tried to do that but was afraid I would scratch the bumper. It is trickey, but you -can- do it if you work slowly.

I've been thinking about the same upgrades,... does anyone know if they make tail, brake and backup lights too? Since I put the Nite Shades on I think my rear lights aren't quite visible enough.

Tom

Know why fog lights are amber instead of white? Amber light penetrates fog better. the white color light reflects back in your eyes. HID lights are awful in rain, fog and humid conditions. DON'T confuse color with brightness. it is an illusion. anytime you put a tint on a bulb, you reduce the brightness. white color bulbs (silverstars) have a blueish tint on them.

Use the 3457's for tail/brake lights. They're brighter than the standard 3157's. I used the Sylvania longlife bulbs. I also put the 50W 3156 halogen bulbs in the backups.
