14N01 is a Customer Satisfaction Program and not a recall. I had had some issues with my headlights turning off when I hit the gas hard, then coming back on - but never did it long enough for me to figure out what was wrong. When 14N01 came out I went and grabbed an LCM from my parts guys and got paid to install it thanks to the extended warranty.
My dealer has only delt with the recall on two other vehicles, both of which I handled. Both times I asked the customer if they have had any issues with their headlights. The first said no issues and I told him there was nothing to be done. The second said yes, and I ordered an LCM without even looking at the car - after it went on Ford's highest priority back order.
I'm not the most moral technician in the shop, as about half of my co-workers would do the entire process by the book - but the point of what I'm saying is that if you calm and cool I'll help you out, if you come in mad and loud trying to tell me how to do my job I'll tell you to pound sand.
I see allot of people unhappy with how a Ford dealer handles this situation, because more likely than not it will be done by the book and in this case if unverified a warranty repair will not take place. Something that everyone here should understand is that from the perspective of the Service advisor and Technician, when performing warranty work Ford is the customer, the owner of the vehicle is not - and I completely understand that for the owner of the vehicle this is not the case, they are still the customer. But when warranty is paying the dealership for the repair the advisor and technician are obligated to do things exactly as Ford tells us to, even if that means frustrating the customer - and thats not our choice.
