Lighting Control Module Recall

It's all good on the East Coast there was a black on PEI but it was for sale in the spring and I suspect it left the Island.

I bought my Silver Birch because I knew I just had to get one even though I had never seen a Marauder in person. And to this day I have never actually ever seen another Marauder before.

I am pretty certain there are not any other Marauders on PEI and there may not be many silver birch in Atlantic Canada.

Was your LCM replaced with the correct part?

I had my LCM replaced a few weeks back using the letter I received from Ford. Local dealer had to order it and replaced it w/o hassle after seeing that during daylight both headlights and park lights were on with the multiswitch on Auto.

They replaced the LCM and the headlights and park lights stayed on in the daylight, again. The tech rechecked the LCM, verified it was loaded with the correct software version, etc. The dealer called Ford. Ford said the replacement module was for a Grand Marquis, not Marauder, because they were out of Marauder LCMs. I was told that I would get another letter from Ford when Marauder-specific LCMs were available and they would then swap out my GM LCM for the Marauder version.

Anyone else have this fun?

Updated info. I checked the P/N on the installed LCM: 4W7T-13C788-BC. I found other threads stating this is a common LCM for both GM and Marauder. I must have something else wrong in the system. I've checked the light sensor on the dash and it seemed to be working: Engine not running, key on, at night. Lights go on as expected. Shine flashlight on light sensor and lights go off after a bit. Remove flashlight and lights turn on.

My headlights are working normal. My dash lights for the speedo/tach don't come on with the lights. My taillights don't come on with the headlights but brake and turn signals all light. Now my driving lights won't come on. Since my headlights work, will they say its not LCM and make me wait til the headlights go out too? Also I run a custom tune. Will that prevent any LCM codes from being recorded? Thanks.

The most common LCM problem is the headlights don't work. That is what the recall is for.

Instrument cluster light problem is most likely burned out bulbs (I have LED replacements if needed).

Check the taillight bulbs, one filament maybe broken.

Custom tune will not affect the LCM.

BTW... I offer repaired LCM's - Heavy duty external relay for the headlights and upgraded internal relays.

I don't believe the LCM records or generates any type of codes.

When my LCM went bad, Ford wanted $ 1300 to replace the unit.
Jim M. did it for $ 50.00

Our town paid Ford their asking price for all of the Police cruisers as the LCM's went bad. It effected all of the lights on the police cars. The chief sent the cars to repair before I could tell him about Jim.

Wow! that was a long time ago. Glad it's still working for you!

The cost is now $75.00 but includes the heavy duty external headlight relay AND all new higher amp relays (3) on the inside.

I have repaired units in stock ready to ship out.

Checked bulbs and they are all good.
Thanks for the info.
