Lighting Control Module Recall

Oh no - another letter received!

Yeah - got mine today too. I'm guessing from the look of this that there should be about 8,000 more responses to this thread :).

I could have done the Jim route, but since I am capable of doing this kind of stuff, I chose to replace the OEM relay inside, esp. since I bought a few of them from Mouser Electronics before discovering Jim's Binford 6100 relay fix. The original headlight relay went out at 100k miles. The 2nd one (replacement headlight relay) went at 115k miles. I am now at 151k miles on relay #3. If Murphy does what he does best, the relay will last until April 28th, 2019, and then fail the day after.

Made my appt. for tomorrow. First they have to put a scanner on it to see if it ever failed. Then they order the part if it did. I asked the rep if they charge for the scan if there is no code. He said Ford wants them to, but they don't. I would not pay a cent if they came back with a bill. I know the guy pretty well, so I know all will go well. Mine failed for about 2 seconds once in 6 1/2 years, so a code should be on there. No worries. But a pain to have to go in twice, at least at this dealership.

I also got the letter today. Jim fixed mine several years ago. I have had absolutely no trouble since Jim did the repair. Is Ford offering to replace a crap module with another crap module? What an offer! It is like a doctor offering to cure your acne by giving you psoriasis.

Ford rep said he was confident they fixed the issue. Ford can be dumb sometimes, but not that dumb. I'm sure the fix is regulated by the DOT.

You think GM is going to replace millions of ignition switches with the same messed up one?

LOL, Yep! Got my letter today too! I haven't ever had a failure of the headlights turning off on me, but once in a blue moon I have to turn the headlight switch on and off a few times to get the headlights to come on. Is that part of this issue?

Got mine yesterday but mileage is 253,000+!!:(

Funny thing is my LCM was replaced under warranty in 2005 for turn signal failure.......has not missed a lick since!!

Hey Jim......hope ya have one repaired when I need one!!;)

LCM recall

I just got my letter from Ford about the LCM recall..15 years or 250000 mile extended warranty....FBM replaced mine a few years ago...He was way ahead of the curve....

As i purchased my SB less than a year ago...Don't know if they've failed in past, just know they work now.
I'll ask next time I'm in for service as to what my dealer can do for me....
On a sidenote...Too bad MM.net can't access the "List" that is being used to generate these recall letters...WE could get an accurate count as to how many are left (minus hoarded barn finds) and help hold the value up on these rare and magical cars....

Got letter yesterday, got fixed today! While there had the aftermarket alarm removed and security put back and key fobs returned to factory specs. No more chirping to lock & unlock MarTilda or alarm sounding off when something with semi-loud exhaust pass by her.

My Ford letter said that offer was good until October 2014 - if mileage was over 250,000 miles they should honor it!
