Mark VIII Eaton Swap

see if the factory will make you one without a cap? I've had success in the past with calling manufacturers and asking if they will make a modified part.

Frozen boost said they don't and won't make it with out the radiator cap. I guess I could mod it.
I was looking at the B&M super coolers. They dont say they are for water to air intercoolers, but dont see why they wouldnt work.
Anybody know the BTU rating of the stock cobra intercooler heat exchanger?

Does it matter which direction you install the IAC valve? It looks like stock is with the electrical connector toward the MAF, but I want to install it with the connector toward the super charger like in this picture. I know the guy that owned this car eventually remote mounted his do to hood clearance on his Mustang. If I do it this way, it clears my Fairlane hood.

On Edit: He just told me it didnt work!

I know it matters which way it's installed. I know some have installed it backwards and had issues. You might want to look into different Ford IAC setups, when i looked into it there were a lot of different configurations. Or there's always remote IAC if you can't get it to clear the hood.

I think I can notch the hood and leave it in the stock position. On another note, Just ordered up Jerry's brackets, so no turning back now!

Stock Pulley part number

I can't find this pulley listed under any Marauder part search. The passenger side stock ribbed pulley.

Is it the same as F5RZ-6C348-A listed in the eaton swap parts thread?

That looks like the correct number. The pulley itself is from a Taurus IIRC

Junkyard 456789

I thought it was 987654?

Are all the late model Fords 8 mm 125? Do they all look like this attachment?

One issue I was wondering if anyone else is having is that on the smooth idler the get's relocated/reversed on Jerry's bracket is that when you get it bolted on, the head of the bolt pertrudes beyond the face of the idler and looks like it will not clear the front cover? I will post a picture of what I am talking about when I get home.

Edit: Well, it isnt much, but it just makes contact with the front cover. Is this what everyone sees and do you do anything about it? I could just grind about 1/16 off the bolt and it would be flush with the pulley. If course as it is, it makes sure the pulley doesnt contact the cover.

Tensioner alignment

Here is a picture of the tensioner showing that the backside of the tensioner is 6MM forward of the straight line connecting the upper and lower drive pulleys. The front is maybe 1MM proud of the drives.

The only way I can see to get it in better alignment is to remove 3-4 MM from Jerry's bracket stand offs, which I really dont want to do! Comments?

I need to get the belt and see what it looks like with the belt.

I reversed the pulley on the tensioner and corrected most of the offset. Still need to find about a 1 mm or so to make it perfect.

I finally got the intercooler mocked up and it fits behind the stock grill!
I had to notch the front apron of the unibody and the valance. Had my buddy cut the radiator cap off and weld it up.

On the pump, is it mounted too high? Do i need to move it down? It is almost as high as the reservoir tank (not the tank in the photo). That spot was convenient...

Back to that tensioner bolt. I know it is 9.8 8mm 125 pitch and about 2.5 inches long. Anyone know how long it is exactly?

It is apparently no longer available. Anyone have one laying around?

Looks like I have to do what Zack already said and go to pull a part.
Just need to find the correct car from a short list! Any others not on this list that used the same bolt?

It has been a while since I posted on here. I am working on final install of the front drive using Jerry's brackets and ran into an issue I did not see before. The alternator conflicts with the connector for the cam sensor. I PM'ed Jerry, but thought I would post it here. Is the cam sensor installed somewhere else on the Marauder than on the Cobra? Cam sensor conflict.jpg

UPDATE: I see the CAM sensor for the Marauder has a 90 degree connector. Is that the only difference in the sensor? 2003-2004 Mercury Marauder Camshaft Position Sensor - Denso 196-6013 - - PartsGeek.com

You are correct. I believe the harness connection is the same.
