overheating problem

That blower is called the fan and is on the back of the radiator, not the front.

Does it come on when you engage the A/C?

The correct thermostat is 188° and is a cheap and easy try...

I found out the hard way that not all aftermarket thermostats work with the Marauder. For instance MotoRad is listed for the Marauder but does not work correctly for our cars as I think they were made for the regular Crown Vic/Grand Marquis. MotoRad doesn't even look like the right one.
 
I don't even know why PepBoys is even still in business. Maybe 10+ years ago my brother took his 85 Mercury Cougar there and they wanted to charge him by the hour. They said some major repair to the engine was needed. I can't remember what the repair they suggested was. Anyway, after paying for several hours of the car just sitting in line, we said nevermind and drove away. Car ran fine for several more years until we sold it. Wasn't anything wrong with it.
 
Overheating

Ok. Been stuck in ATL all day waiting for a mobile mechanic who is not coming. Limped down to the grocery store 1/2 mile away. Did not overheat. AC working, water in reservoir has no signs of oil. Didn't hear the fan. No obvious leaks.

Two things go wrong with the fan...... one - the fan controller goes bad...mm two - the fan blade (s) or the ring around the blades crack and the fan makes the noise you heard.
 
What do you mean "goes right through"? Once the system is full, you shouldn't be able to add any more fluid, if you're using the correct procedure.
 
I want to know the answer to that question too. Not going on the ground. Oil and water appear to be separate and it is running fine so maybe not head gasket. The reservoir is leaking. Could that be the whole issue?
 
Time for a compression test and a cooling system pressure test to see if a head gasket is gone.

***** EDIT I missed the part about the reservoir leaking. Get that repaired and then if problem still exists then I would do the above.

It stays cool till it dumps the water. Then it overheats. If I did not make that clear in earlier posts.
