alright, so a couple weeks ago my mm started overheating so i changed the water pump, thermostat and bled the cooling system and then about a week later it started overheating again. The water pump seems to be fine because i filled the system back up and bled it again and when it starts over heating the hoses have plenty of pressure in them. has anyone else had this problem? the fan works fine also. i dont know what else it could be the temp guage never got to the red so i dont think that i would have blown a head gasket or anything. if you have any ideas please let me know. thanks...

Is this a 03 A

Have you got map pockets on your front seats, the clock is in the dash and not in the radio and no traction control switch? If yes to all of the above you most likely have a 300A.

no seat pockets, no dash clock, i have a traction control switch. but the title is rebuilt so i dont know if they changed the engine or not. There is a A writin on the block though.

Try checking the thermostat. Or maybe u have an air lock when u changed everything. I changed my thermostat and got an air lock thats what i would check.

How were you burping the system?

There ARE instruction on the site as to the proper procedure to prevent harm to yourself.

Did you search for this? Or just wing it?

:dunno:

i read it like a week ago, but must have forgot something important. i tried to find what i read the other day but i couldnt so i just did what i remembered reading.i guess i should have let the car cool after each time or somethin cause i just did it 5 times in a row..

Ok I have an 03 A, and mine is overheating. I've done everything that the first poster said, and its still overheating...what is the problem??? Help please!

To remove all of the air from the cooling system (BURP) do it this way.

Top off with coolant. Run car for 40 seconds. Shut Off. Top off with coolant.

Repeat the above procedure until it will not take anymore coolant. No need to burn your arm. This is the best, fastest safest way to remove all air pockets from the cooling system. Way too many threads just say BURP with no detail.
