The Motor City Marauders had a very productive meeting today. We are in the process of solidifying plans for a HUGE event here in the Motor City, and would like to invite all to attend. I have discussed this idea with Steve Babcock at great length the last couple of months since our Event at Woodward this year. From the start, Steve has made it clear that he both wanted and supported the plan to host a National Marauder Meet in the Motor City, and felt the publicity would do the Marauder cause a world of good to deliver such an event here in Detroit, and make the Ford/Mercury folks take note. We got their attention last year with the 25+ Marauders we had on Woodward, media coverage by radio and television as well. Please read this carefully and objectively before passing judgement and voting.
Here is what we are planning:
Wednesday, August 17, 2005.
Marauder Dyno Day at Alternative Auto hosted by Lidio. This would include Dyno runs, Dyno tuning, and possibly minor Marauder mods set up in advance. This dyno day resulted in great results and the desire to hold at least two Marauder Dyno Days a year. Here is some info on what we did this year.

We rent the 1/4 mile track at Milan Michigan for some test and tune, and do some Marauder only Bracket Racing. This would be very simular to what was done in Indy at MVII this year. Cost will be nominal, and may be picked up by sponsors.

Ned Nuss expressed the desire to host Marauders at the Ford Proving Ground again this year. This included some tours, rides with Ford Test drivers on the test track, displays of Ford cars, included the 05 Mustang, Ford GT, supercharged Lap of America Lincoln LS, etc. This year they also offered tours of the new Rouge factory. This was one of the highest rated events the Motor City Marauders hosted this summer. Check out the links for info:

This is the big event, the big day, the Woodward Dream Cruise. I really cant say more about it than that. You either understand what its all about, the BIGGEST one day car event in the WORLD. And you will have a front row seat for you and your Marauder. We will own a restraunt's entire parking lot, and it will be ours alone, no squatters. You will be able to come and go cruising whenever you like and not loose your spot. We are trying to get Mercury or Ford to sponsor here to help out. This is where Steve Babcock says sheer numbers of people attending will help in that area. I have arranged in advance more television coverage, including the possiblity of one of the local stations broadcasting live from our display! Here are some links to our event this year:

The possibility of having a nice breakfast in the morning is easy to put together if there is interest. But I have been working on hooking up with the Michigan Chapter of the Shelby American Club (SAAC), and the Motor City Terminators (Mustang Cobra Club), and doing the open track Sessions at Michigan International Speedway again on this day. This is only in the planning stages and depends on interest. This was the other of the Motor City Marauders events that people rated the BEST event of the year. Check out the info and Pictures from this years open track event at MIS:

This is the tentative events lineup for the Week of the 2005 Woodward Dream Cruise, Steve Babcock thinks this is a great idea and has thrown his support behind it. I met with him a while ago and he thought this would make for a great Marauder Event for the Detroit area.
The question is, is this a good idea for the National Marauder Meet, MVIII. We have a large group here to do the legwork, registration, planning, and setup to make this very easy to attend and enjoy. Not only are you talking about the biggest automotive event in the world, but other great events that people have talked about and would love to attend. Hotels are nice and within easy reach, Steve from Chicago can confirm this. The Detroit area has a lot of activities for the eveings, including the Casino's, Greenfield Village, Bars, good places to dine.
We will be doing this event whether or not it is MVIII, but wanted to offer it as a choice to the membership of MM.net to attend and name it MVIII if they elect to. Just a note to Logan, a lot of the planning would be handled by my MCM members and with the help of a couple MM.net members it would no headache to you whatsoever. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
