The Big Band era and swing music, was during and after WWII, the generation following Al Capone's days. Prohibition was 1929 to 1931, The Big Band era and swing music got it's start in late '39 and lasted almost to 1950. This genre has to appreciated for what it was. Big Bands were 25-30 musicians, sometime twice that, and maintaining syncopation...

OK, folks. Today's award :trophy1: goes to my friend, Mac. For understanding the meaning of, correctly using in a sentence, and correctly spelling the word "syncopation".

Move along, now. Nothing left to see here. :dogrun:

I am partial to the "Imperial March" from Star Wars...theme song of the Darkside.
Hey....I was gonna say that!:) I love some of the marches. Used to have that on my driving mix cassette right after Donna Summer's I Feel Love. (Looooong time ago.) I gotta make me a CD soon. Currently ZZTop's Best Of is in the player. Favorite single song is maybe Sammy Hagar's I Can't Drive 55.

Mellow isnt the word, Its a Song that Soldiers from WW1 Would come home and dance with their wives to. I listened to it and Had Thoughts of a Old 1930's car pulling up and 4 Gangsters with Tommy Guns Stepping out of it!
!
It's just about you and someone else coming from, or being raised in, two different generations. And you cannot get on him for that. You gotta respect peoples' age ya know. At one time he was your age, and some day before you know it, you'll be his age. That's all I meant my friend. maybe if MAC listed his age, then some of you younger guys might understand a little better where he's coming from atleast some of the time, but for whatever reason he doesn't list it. His perogative though.....

Marauder Theme music.

"Jailbreak" by Thin Lizzy.

"Hell bent for leather" Judas Priest.

"Detroit Rock City" Kiss.

"Wango Tango" Ted Nugent.

I second the motion for "Peter Gunn", "I can't drive fifty five", and "Imperial March".

SECOND movement?!

How about the fourth . . . The second gets a bit pastoral in the middle for a Marauder.

If that turns you on, try "Jupiter" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets." (used in Conan the Barbarian IIRC) Or "Mars" for that matter.

Incidentally Mars is what they used for one of those 2004 GTO commercials during the superbowl. It was also stolen and slightly changed for the theme of Star Trek VI.

If you want some adventure music (Erol Flynn style) try Mahler's Symphony #1. 'Course there's way more where that came from.

"Ride of the Valkyrie", Wagner

Just picture Robert Duvall in his "Cav" hat and sunglasses behind the wheel.

"It smells like VICTORY!"

I thought that smell was .......... Napalm in the morning !!

Good music transcends all ages ... personally, I like a wide variety of types from Classical, to Jazz, to Swing, Rock and Roll, R&B, Soul, Country, Easy Listening ... you name it and I have my favorites. :D I even enjoy Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis, Johnny Mathis, and Nat King Cole to name a few of the greats.

Curiously, I think alot of the classical music that I like and remember came from the soundtrack of cartoons. .............. up to and including the famous "Ride of the Valkyrie" from Bugs Bunny !!! :baaa:

Oh Yes .... and here's the Cav hat (but not Robert Duvall) ;)

Im not Bashing him in the least, He Could Listen to Polish Polka at Max Volume For all I care. I was just Curious how that song would make you get hyped up to drive over 100mph when It dont have a beat or a Diving Rhythm. Thats all I meant. Im sure your Burnout Video would have had a Totally Different Impact if you Didn't Choose "Enter Sandman" and played a Song like "I get Around" By the Beach Boys or "The Hustle" By Van McCoy!

That would Actually Be Hysterical to Hear the Hustle Playing while a BadAss Muscle Car is doing a Burnout! Sorta like a Big Bad Biker Dude Doing the Chicken Dance or the Electric slide!
