Big Brakes on a not-so-big Budget? YEP

Did you ever go back and paint the lower portion of the rotors? I may look into some coated rotors to avoid that problem.

Nah, never got around to doing that yet. I'm okay with it for now. It would be purely for cosmetics.

Small update: I've got about 5000kms and they still stop great. The only thing I can complain about is a nasty squeal when cold. This could be either the pads I chose or a loose caliper boot that's let in some dirt. I'll have to check when I bring the car out of winter storage.

Are there any good rotor offerings that come with the hat painted or coated, or the whole rotor coated, where the same model is available for front and rear? I'm not enthused about rusty looking rotors, and the last couple times I've used paint on rotors/drums it ended up sticking to the wheel, so I'd like to avoid that. And yes, I am aware that any coatings on the friction surface of the rotor will be worn away by the pads. Just want the areas not touched by the pads to be able to look nice for as long as possible.

Look for zinc coated or Ecoat..I have zinc coated onmy daily, been thru 2 winters, no rust but they are not shiny any longer, sort of look like oxidized aluminum. R1 concepts have them, stop tech, ebc...

I'm pretty happy with the R1 Concepts rotors.
I think they are zinc coated.;)

I wonder if BBQ grille paint would work.

HART on ebay has zinc, drilled and slotted. That's what i used. So for so good.

I've used it as a primer on brake drums. Works for that pretty well. The paint on top got chipped from impacts (got a little careless with tools while they were sitting out prior to installation), but the bbq paint stuck in place.

We coat some types of rotors with this to prevent rust, works pretty well.

I'm sure this is redundant, so apologies to all in advance, but after almost 2 years, I'm getting around to putting my Zack/Todd kit on the car. The problem I'm running into is the caliper pins and bushings for the Vette calipers didn't come with them. I didn't see in the shopping list as needing these separate, so can someone tell me what they used on theirs? Thanks in advance, and apologies for missing the answer to this, as I'm sure it's been covered.

These are the part numbers I use. Comes with everything you need.

Rock auto
$105 18-B4703 caliper
$105 18-B4702 caliper

Thanks for that...I have the calipers, but its the pins and bushings I need, since the Ford ones don't fit the Vette calipers :)
