Lighting Control Module Recall

I went in to get a refund on the LCM repair for a part purchased at the dealer parts counter in 2009.

As of today, the dealers are supposed to keep the original copy of the Ford parts receipt (you get a copy back) and send it all into Ford. It seems some people were submitting mutiple refund requests on the same receipt (like a company like Ford wouldn't figure that one out?).

The paperwork is submited to Ford for "consideration." Ford refunds the money to the dealer and they will mail you a check to the info on the letter. Expect 6-8 weeks for word back from Ford and the checks to go out.

This is the same process for if the LCM was replaced by Ford in the past or the parts bought over the counter.

The service manager said to keep the letter and if the lights fail in the extended warranty period, bring it to any Ford dealer for free replacement.

By the way, if you have HID's or any other headlight modifications, the dealer can deny the repair since the headlight system was modified by the owner.

Took all of 10 minutes to do at the service drive while I was getting an oil change.

my sb has 34000 miles on it. Hasn't had any problems with the headlites, will the dealer still replace the lcm? tom

received my letter today. My 2004 SB has 34000 miles on it. Had no problem with the headlights so far. Will the dealer still replace the ''LCM''

According to my conversation with the service advisor, NO. They will not do a preemptive repair. The lights have to be malfunctioning and they have to verify it is the LCM before Ford will pay for the repair. That's why you keep the letter, so if/when it happens any Ford dealer anywhere can diagnose and fix it under waranty.

Yeah I just got my letter from Ford for Customer Satisfaction Program 14N01: Lighting Control Module failure. Warranty coverage is for 15 years or 250,000 miles from the original warranty start date, which ever occurs first; and if your car already has over 250K miles the coverage will last through October 31, 2014.
The Ford letter is dated April 2014.

The mods say i cant though...

So.... let me get this correct, it's OK to make money off of members, but you cannot do the same service for free to help members????

WTF kind of B.S. is that, it seems counter productive, is not the purpose of a club to help other members with things like this???

OK, from here on out, I'll help anyone who needs my assistance, but you will have to pay me for any help I provide, yep, seems legit to me. :shake:

Thats what they told me, even deleted 3 topics i posted about how i cant do it anymore, threatened me with a week being banned. Ill probably get banned for typing this, as sad as it sounds.

Just got a call from the dealership. LCM's are on backorder until end of June. Seems there are alot needed.....

Cumstomer sat.. Program from for (LCM REpair

I don't know if anyone else received a letter from Ford stating they we're increasing the warranty for the LCM due to it being crap. My lights just started shutting off and no matter what I did they wouldn't come back on. I did research and did a DIY check only to find it was my LCM. Shortly after, maybe a few weeks I received the letter. I took the car to ford and they replaced my LCM .. No charge , no problem. If anyone else has purchased the LCM to repair their system then take your receipt to the dealer and they reimburse you , no problem. You had to have had the original repair done by a ford dealer
